When we are in a challenging season in our relationships, it can be overwhelming to even think how we can get our relationship back on track.
The task seems rather daunting.
But what if, instead of thinking in terms of getting unstuck or changing the trajectory of our entire relationship, we think of our relationship in terms of micro-moments.
What do we mean by micro-moments? Allow me to explain: our life happens one moment at a time. And each moment is an opportunity. An opportunity to take action towards our desired goal or to take action away from our desired goal.
It is the same with love and relationships. Each moment, each interaction is an opportunity for a moment of connection, of an action of love.
So today, think of something you can do for your spouse and your loved ones which might be a micro-act of love. The simplest tiniest thing. Something which is easy to do – and just as easy NOT to do.
For example,
Nodding, making eye contact when they are speaking to you
Doing a task without being asked
Offering them a hug
Giving a compliment
A cheerful greeting
Plugging in their phone when it is running out of battery
As you can tell, all these little acts literally only take 10- 15 seconds. And they are absurdly easy to do. And, as Jim Rohn would say, they are EQUALLY easy NOT to do.
Rohn calls these "The Two Easies."
Easy to do. Easy not to do.
The thing with choosing to these micro-acts of love on a daily basis is that it takes intentionality but no more time.
And they are SO powerful.
In the meantime, reflect on what is an easy act of love for you? Something which is easy to do and just as easy NOT to do. Which will you choose?
