It has been said that holding on to resentment is like drinking poison and hoping that it will kill your enemies (or the people that hurt you)
For those of us who struggle to let go of hurts and forgive, this metaphor hits home, doesn’t it? We have experienced the pain and distress of resentment. It is almost as if we have given over the remote control of our peace and wellbeing to those who hurt us and allowed them to live rent free in our minds and consciousness.
And although we may get that holding on is hurting us, but we simply do not know HOW to move forward, how to let go of that which hurt us and gain back our peace and wellbeing.
